The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception falls on the Second Sunday in Advent this year. Therefore, it has been transferred to Monday, December 9th. However, the obligation to attend Mass on this holy day has been temporarily waived. There is no Vigil Mass on Sunday night but Masses on Monday are at 7:30 AM and 11 AM. What is meant by the Church’s doctrinal teaching that the Blessed Virgin Mary was “immaculately conceived”? Put simply, from the moment she was conceived by St. Anne and St. Joachim, she was always in the Light, never in darkness.
